Our Programs

1-2 year olds / Tiny Turtles

We work on a large range of skills. Most of all we have fun. We are encourage to learn through play.

In our room we work on gross motor skills by climbing and sliding. We dance to music, such as head, shoulder and toes. You can find us doing our daily jumps, stool stepping and walking around the room to look at pictures.

During the day we also work on clapping hands to music, singing, stacking objects and building with legos. Of course fingerpainting and scribbling with crayons is one of our most favorite activities.

Reading is performed daily. Our objective is to prepare our 1-2 year old children by developing language and motor skills.

2-3 year olds / Butterflies Class

In our 2 year old class at Half Pints Learning Center, the children work on self-help skills by dressing themselves, taking off and putting on their own shoes, brushing their teeth, and cleaning up after themselves. The children work on sharing by playing and doing activities together which helps to build cooperation skills.

We are busy working daily on colors, shapes, and numbers. The children practice their emergent language and literacy skills by singing songs and listening to stories. Fine motor and pre-writing skills are practiced by scribbling, tearing paper, painting, and playing with shaving cream. There are age appropriate books, and toys which the children can choose from every day.

Gross motor skills are practiced by running, jumping, climbing, swinging, and dancing to music. Above all, the children are learning and having fun at the same time.

3-4 year olds - Lady Bug Class

The 3 year old curriculum focuses on introducing the alphabet and numbers. We play letters and numbers games for recognition. We have a different letter and number for each week. We also practice writing letters and numbers by doing ghost writing (tracing what the teacher writes).

For reading, we practice letter sounds, learn the days of the week and months of the year. We practice our colors and shapes - focusing on a different color and shape each month. In math, we play math activities and practice sorting and counting different objects.

We focus on fine motor skills to enhance learning how to write. These activities include: cutting, pencil skills, art projects, lacing different objects and free drawing activities. We work on gross motor skills by play running and jumping games, and riding bikes once a week. We also participate in stretch and grow once a week, which is a music based fitness class. We sing, dance, and learn many different nursery rhymes. We learn about social skills through free center play. We have many centers like: blocks, house keeping, library, animals/science, and manipulative/puzzle center.

Stretch-n-Grow

Stretch-n-Grow is an international fitness program with classes across the United States, Canada, Ireland, Hong Kong, Spain and Australia. Our curriculum has been developed by certified aerobic instructors, pediatricians, and teachers.

Your child will receive weekly instructions in aerobic exercise, strength training, and nutrition. The goal of this wonderful program is to instill in your child a natural love of exercise. Because of the student’s young age, these ideas will remain with him or her all through their lives.

Our goal is a healthy and happy child who will not become a health statistic in our never-ending battle with being overweight and inactivity.
